2017 Power Rankings - Week 9

Rank (LW) Logo Team Record Rating Comment
1 (3) ANC 5-3 98.04 The Ice Knights reclaim the top spot after a 4-week hiatus. Anchorage can now say that they have the two highest scores this season. They turned a huge performance out of their Baltimore Defense who scored 29 points on TNF. Russell Wilson was one point short of having the highest individual score this season with 57 points.
2 (1) SD 7-1 89.18 The Surge had a two-week reign at the top but slip one spot after Anchorage's huge week. San Diego continued their winning streak and pushed the number to 7 in a row. Winners know how to win. Demaryius Thomas did just enough on Monday Night football to seal the victory with an 11-point night.
3 (4) LAB 5-3 83.85 The Bombers eeked out a victory versus Atlanta to earn a 1 point victory. It was the closest game so far this season. It came down to MNF where Kareem Hunt (11 points) did just enough than Alex Smith (19 points) to pull off the win. LA suffered another injury which saw Zach Miller nearly lose his leg due to the severity of the injury.
4 (2) DET 4-4 83.44 The Devils lost and their future is even more uncertain. The ongoing story is whether Ezekiel Elliott will serve his 6-game suspension. It was determined that he was going to finally serve to it, but was granted permission to play this week. His status has certainly overshadowed his 40 point day, his second time in a row.
5 (5) TB 7-1 79.55 The Blizzard was at a huge advantage to start the week and it finished that way. Tampa Bay won to keep pace with San Diego at a 7-1 record. They won despite Drew Brees not throwing for a touchdown (which rarely happens) and 1 yard short of the 300 yard bonus. TB's backfield was efficient on the ground combining for 233 yards rushing.
6 (6) SF 3-5 77.24 The Rattlesnakes were snake bitten by their opponent who went off for 163 points. Their 108 point week was overshadowed and was good for 3rd highest this week. San Fran had everyone in double figures except for their Pittsburgh defense who held the Lions Offense out of the endzone on SNF.
7 (7) ND 3-5 73.12 The Nimrods lost a tight game that was decided by 3 points. No one had a big night with Wentz contributing 22 points to lead the way. 6 of their 8 players scored in double figures. One of the positions that didn't help the cause was at tight end. Reed was shut out and Hunter Henry who was benched would have scored just 1 point.
8 (9) SH 4-4 68.74 The Hooligans got the win and simply padded the stats to finish the week. Matt Prater booted 5 field goals for the padding. But the best came from DeAndre Hopkins who had 224 receiving yards and a TD. The 43 point game earned him POTW honors. Matt Ryan was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor who added 20 points.
9 (8) DEN 4-4 62.57 The wheels have come off for the Diamonds, making it 4 staight losses. They did make their score a little bit more respectable with 83 points but they still had the low score of the week. C.J. Anderson, Travis Kelce, and Harrison Butker scored 60 points on Monday Night football to go from 23 to 83.
10 (11) CHI 1-7 59.77 The nightmare season continues for Chicago. They are setting their franchise's record for futulity with a 1-7 record through 8 games. Their previous worst was at 3-5 which was done multiple times. One good thing going forward is that they may have found a legit tight end in Jack Doyle who had a 33 point day, the highest TE total this season.
11 (10) ATL 2-6 57.46 The Jesters were on the wrong side of the fence for a game decided by 1 point. Atlanta had a huge carryover from their intangibles for a total of 43 points. The rest of the team were duds. Alex Smith and Alshon Jeffery were the only ones to break into double digits. And now Jay Ajayi was traded to Philadelphia to muddy his fantasy value.
12 (12) FW 3-5 55.12 The Pistons somehow pulled out a victory this week for their 3rd of the season. They actually had decent play from their running backs who scored 19 points. This came without Beast Mode who was suspended for the game. Matthew Stafford threw for 423 yards but could get his team to find pay dirt in a losing effort.
